OWNER BUILDER WARRANTY – INSPECTION and REPORT
In NSW, every domestic building sold that has been constructed or altered within the last seven years is required to be covered by a warranty offered by the builder. Domestic builders are required by law to hold insurances in place that cover their liability for this warranty.
When selling a property that includes work, which a homeowner (Owner Builder), has completed where the reasonable market value of materials and labor used exceeds $20,000, a similar warranty is legally required to be given by the seller. Many insurance companies will offer owner builders warranty insurance to cover this liability, pending an inspection of the works and subsequent report and certification being given by a Building Consultant.
If you’re an owner builder, works require certification for insurance purposes, contact us to arrange an inspection. The report will be discussed in confidence with you prior to submission to the insurer, and in the unlikely case that we find non-compliant work, we will be happy to assist you through the process of getting it right.
